Old School Portable Stereo That is Well Built, Easy to Use and Sounds Great!
Even though this radio/tape player has Karaoke written across the front, I've never done Karaoke and Karaoke isn't the reason I order this.I had an older portable radio that was impossible to use. Cheaply made with a small LCD that I couldn't read and small function buttons that were impossible to use. If you wanted to leave this radio on one station and never adjust the stations, sound or use the other functions it was fine, but if you wished to use it as intended, it was impossible. In steps the Tomashi radio/cassette deck. This thing is beautiful! Right off you notice the attractiveness and the quality of the plastics compared to my old unit. It has real old school large buttons and dials that make it a pleasure to chose your function, chose your station and chose your volume without having to grab a magnifying glass and proper lighting to read the LCD or fumble with the tiny buttons. It has a full AM/FM scale that can easily be seen as you turn the dial for channel selection. Too easy and too nice! The dual speakers provide nice stereo sound with decent bass and treble. This player is exactly what I was looking for. Well built, simple, with nice sound.I don't currently have any cassettes, but I will order a few to play with the recording function and report back. I expect good results.

Great little dual cassette player with a lot of built-in functionality
I'm a bit in love with this thing. The speakers aren't amazing, the reception's a little weak on the radio, and the labelling on the buttons (while accurate to the functions) feels a bit backwards in their placement, but this thing is every bit as good as any boom box I had back in the early 90s. The best about this thing is the price is comparable to something similar you would have bought back then, and that's impressive given we've had 3+ decades of inflation since then. I'm sure the circuits are all miniaturized and surface mounted at this point, but the outside construction feels rugged and chonky enough that I don't have any fears about the internal assembly being sub-par.You can record to tape from the other tape deck, the radio, the built in mic, or the 1/4" "mic" jack, or (and this is the feature I'll probably use the most), you can record from any of those sources directly to a USB or SD drive! It's a bit confusing getting that going at first if you have squirrels in your brain like I do, but read the manual and it'll all be fairly intuitive before you know it. That's a pretty cool feature set for an amateur soundscape collage guy like me. The built in mic has just the right amount of cheese and character to make it useful in certain situations as well, so that's a feature for me (not a bug). This thing's absolutely going into my regular rotation of recording/sound experimenting gear.

Mono tape heads, mono radio tuner, no Bluetooth, and lacking in bass and treble
The media could not be loaded. This double cassette boombox looks the part, and functions as advertised, however I soon noticed that there is no tone, bass, or treble control on the unit. Sound is flat, no bass, no treble, and all midrange. The tape heads are both mono, and so is the FM radio tuner. Stations came in clear, however the AM tuner suffers from lack of carrier filter, so you will hear a hum on some stations. Tape speed was about 1.4% faster than should be, and wow and flutter improved after breaking the tape mechanism in. The cassette recorder is using a permanent erase magnet which is not ideal, and causes noise on recordings. If you are recording from SD card in stereo, it only records in mono. One surprising omission is lack of Bluetooth. At this price point, you would think it would be included. I am pleased to say that USB and micro SD card playback is in full stereo. This boombox is powered from a supplied AC cord, or 6 D size batteries which are optional. You can record to cassette from the built in mic, AM/FM radio, an optional external mic, USB\Micro SD. This boombox can also record from AM\FM radio, cassette, or the built in microphone to USB\Micro SD. Overall, I cannot recommend this boombox based on lack of sound quality, omission of Bluetooth, mono tape heads, and the lack of a FM stereo tuner. Additionally, no rubber feet were installed on the bottom, which cases the boombox to slide around, and scuff surfaces.

This player has loads of options
The media could not be loaded. I was looking for something to play all my old cassettes on other than my big stereo system. I definitely got more than I bargained for in this unit. It is a mini boombox with good sound and not all the weight of a big player. It really pulls in the radio stations both AM and FM even inside my house. The options for the cassette player are great. It has 2 cassette decks so I can record songs onto one tape while the other one plays. Or I can record songs onto a USB stick or Micro SD. I don't have a tape deck in my car but I can plug in the recorded USB. If you are into Karaoke, you can plug in a microphone and record yourself onto a cassette or USB/SD card. There is a plug for hooking up a headset too. The speakers are good, not great. I wish it had more of a base sound but the sound is still good. The sound depends on the condition of my cassettes too. I had some really old tapes that sounded terrible (40-50 years old). Newer, more well-made ones (20-30 years) were fine. 2 things I wish it had. Bigger windows on the cassette deck doors so I could see if the tape is moving or not. Plus, auto stop when rewinding or fast forward. That’s where a bigger window could help, something other than the 1/4th by 2 inch one it has now. It does auto stop on play mode. Bluetooth would be nice but everything else I own is Bluetooth, so I don’t miss that option here. It runs by AC or DC. It takes 6 D batteries so I plan to use rechargeables otherwise it will get too expensive to replace them frequently.
