Amazing quality for value
I bought this Katana for use with a Cosplay I do a couple times a year because I got tried of borrowing my friends' swords.I didn't want something super cheap feeling or made of plastic or whatever. I really just wanted it to have a good look and weight to match the quality of the rest of my costume.I took the word of many other reviews about the quality and look off this Katana and ordered it. Upon opening it, I would not have been disappointed had I paid double what this cost me!I'm no expert, but I've handled quite a few Katanas in my time of varying quality. This thing looks and feels legit. The blade is super cool looking and very sharp in the blued steel. The quality of the blade is VASTLY superior to other swords I've handled at this $50 price point. I mean there is no comparison! The Saya (scabbard) appears to be real wood (can see it at the top with sword out) and is just a basic black lacquered finish with a very good quality holding tie. It looks and feels excellent in hand. The Katana itself is well decorated. Aside from the blued blade finish, the grip is in a white leather (faux I assume) that feels great and is plenty durable for handling and cosplay. The tsuba is metal and well decorated. Doesn't feel cheap. The pommel is a thinner metal that matches, seems good to me.The weight seems good. It's probably not some perfectly balanced combat ready katana, but others reviews says it's actually pretty nice for practice and cutting. All I know is it's beyond perfect for my needs. It would display beautifully and be perfect for and costume. Be aware the blade is sharp so there is that! Something others haven't mentioned, the blade comes oiled and sealed in plastic. It comes with instructions on how to wipe the oil in and remove heavy residue. Just general care. This makes me feel like the blade is of decent quality steel. If there is a better Katana you can buy brand new, have it delivered next day for $50, I'm not sure it exists.

Best I found for under 60 bucks
Read reviews on every sword I could find under 100. Even read some 200 range reviews. I bought this one and another one for 50. Both had 1065 steel in listing vs 1045 which is probably alright but many were not stated or stainless. Apparently stainless is weak even though it stains less and is shiny. The blade on this is colored blue. Apparently the blue comes off it you use it. I don't plan on using it nor would I care. Weight feels good. Everything feels tight. Few minor scratches on some parts but nothing that would bother me. Parts that reviewers said were plastic on some swords are metal on this. Grip feels more quality than I expected for 50.Not a toy or cosplay. Real sword. Sharp point. Blade not sharp but not dull. Capable of doing serious damage.I bought this from the reviews and no regrets. Maybe one day will buy a 200 sword to see if it's that much better.I read many reviews on other swords that stated it was loose or blade was thin and flimsy. That's not this sword.

Combat Ready
This sword is combat ready. To increase factory sharpness you can lightly run each side once or twice to remove weapon black from the edge. This makes it Sharp! The blade is not perfectly crafted although the weight, and balance are good for combat. The hilt is abrasive to the power hand. I fixed this with a touch of epoxy to fill the design while retaining the ornamental effect. I'm impressed with the sheathing, sturdy enough to be used as a weapon itself. The tie design is one I prefer. If you are looking for a real sword for a budget this will not disappoint. I just bought a second one to compare the hand made blades... Maybe this one will be even nicer.

I don’t think you will find better for the price.
The media could not be loaded. Not gonna lie, I purchased this for my 8, soon to be 9 year old son for Christmas. He became very interested in anime which sparked an interest in katanas, swords, and other weaponry. A katana was surprisingly the number one most wanted item on his Christmas list. I figured there was no harm in buying it for him because he’s proven an understanding of the katana, the potential dangers, and was not going to be unsupervised with it.I was very impressed with the packaging it arrived in. It was well packaged in a very sturdy long wooden box with a custom insert and styrofoam to hold it in place perfectly while in transit. Every single piece was wrapped in plastic. It was pretty satisfying unboxing this thing and peeling all the plastic off of it all. It’s very sharp. It would be super easy to sit down with this sucker and hone it until it’s scary sharp. It’s very hefty too. It’s heavy enough. This isn’t a toy. Not by any means. My son has been rough on the blame because he went right to work chopping down trees in the backyard with it. He’s sliced and diced all kinds of things. I can’t even tell you how many watermelons I sacrificed to the little guy and his gigantic sword. He had great fun with it though. The only things I have to point out are for one, the rope that came strung thru the scabbard has these little gold colored metal decorative details. I believe those are supposed to be glued or somehow attached to the loop on the scabbard because they fit perfectly in place. However they must not have glued or attached them properly because they are all loosey goosey, as you can see from my attached video. Secondly, the handle has a nice braided leather detail. It’s pretty and seems well done. It seems they put gold colored metal decorations on the handle and braided on top of them, securing them to the handle under the twisted leather-ish detail. You’ll see them in the video. There are also little wooden cork-ish spots that look like they were meant to be covered by the decorative handle detail. But I honestly have no complaints. I searched all over Amazon when searching for the right katana to buy and I highly doubt you will find a better one for this price.
