Great tripod head for spotting scope - smooth, stable.

Not much more to say but have you ever felt good after spending a lot of money for a product. Well you will feel good once you install and start using the Sirui Tripod head. Super functional and a very high quality product.

Love this one.... one locking knob is in sort of a bad spot but this is a great mounting head.

Small and smooth. Ideal for smaller/lighter-weight cameras/scopes/binoculars.

I have the head mounted on the SIRUI SVM Rapid System monopod. Works great for mobility and quick positioning. The head has a spring tension that I’d rather not have and releasing the quick release plate is not so quick depending on the equipment being used. (The release button is located on the rear/back of the head as opposed to the side like a majority of quick releases). Functionality and ease of use are great.

I was looking for a light weight tripod and fluid head after lugging my Manfrotto 502AH head with aluminum Benro tripod around at airshows. I've combined the Sirui VH-10 and the Sirui R-2204 Carbon Fiber tripod together to make an excellent light weight and compact combination that is easily carried over one shoulder (its 3 lbs lighter and 2" shorter when folded). The R-2204 has a 33lb weight limit while the VH-10 can can support 13.2 lbs. This allows me to load the head with my Video camera + Video Monitor + Video Light (if needed), while hanging my backpack on the center hook of the R-2204 to stabilize the tripod. Note that I keep my batteries in my backpack and run the wires from it up to my camera, monitor and video light. This keeps me under the 13.2 lb limit for the head. Buyer beware, that if you go with the VH-10X, to get the adjustable pan drag, your head weight limit drops down to 6.6lbs!!

I received the quick-release version of this head, which usually goes for twenty bucks more than the basic version. I was initially pleased, until I tried to put my camera on the head. Neither the Peak Designs plate nor the Leofoto plate works with this head! The Leofoto plate can be forced to fit, but it won't slide, so it can't be balanced, and it doesn't feel right. The head itself is decent, but the fluid damping feel is decidedly inferior to that of my 32-year-old Manfrotto 128RC. So the new head feels worse than the old one and is no more compatible. Back it goes.
