Very helpful item! For years I just held the figure in my hand until changing to this. Nice quality. There is another one that is made for bigger figures too.

Ok for Games Workshop figures, but …
I bought this for non GW figures as it was the only one I could find with an expandable grip.I found that:-- The bases have to be circular otherwise they pop out- will only work with bases in the range specified in the product description- fiddly to put in the grip. Really need 3 hands!- will only work with shallow GW type bases- bases need to have a bevelled edge not vertical as the grip is quite shallow.I will keep this product as I intend to make my own reusable paint bases with a bevelled edge and use double sided tape to hold the figures.I think it’s still a good buy as long as you are prepared to adapt your approach to using it.I hope this helps in choosing the right grip for your painting.

Almost essential
This thing is almost essential for painting miniatures. It can accomodate a wide range of base sizes so it's great for 40K as well as other miniatures for other games/brands. Grip is nice and comfortable, too.

Perfect for gripping models and steadying the model when painting.
Perfect for gripping models and steadying the model when painting. If you don't want to spend the money, a large cork and some blue tac will go some way to giving you the same solution BUT this grips the model much more firmly, holds a few different sizes and with it's longer shaped base it sits nicely in the palm, while you pinch the top with thumb and forefinger. I definitely recommend, above any other GW gadgets.

Worth getting
Got it cheaper then in the store, straighforward to use and make holding minis way more comfortable. I own multiple to work on a few things at a time while they are drying.I think the older bulkier design is more comfortable but this is still better then having your hand cramp up while trying to paint a face and making your marine look like the joker.
