Just what I needed
Perfect replacement but you will need someone to program it which may be possible with an existing key.

Expensive to have Programmed
As the listing states, this key fob for the Mini Cooper requires programming using a special expensive key programmer. You can beat the dealer cost (~$250) for a new key by going to an Auto Locksmith. In my area, the cost to program the fob from a locksmith was $125. The locksmith also told me that his success rate with a fob purchased from Amazon was about 50% due to the variety of sources. I decided to not have the fob programmed. A nice feature of this fob compared to the original is that it has an assessable battery compartment. The original fob required you to take it apart and desolder the old battery and re-solder the new battery in.

Feels pretty solid.
The media could not be loaded. I haven't had a chance to take the fob somewhere to be paired, but it feels pretty solid. The blank key fits my OEM fob without issue, and the buttons feel nice and crisp. The only issue I have is the silver ring around the edge isn't swappable like it is on OEM keyfobs.

ONCE PROGRAMMED TO THE CAR BY A PRO THEY WORK FINE
I have an R-56 Cooper S, and I got two of these for a test. YES, they work, but you need to have a programmer to set them up on the car. These are good, so you CAN get one, but you'll need to get someone with key cloning technology (DEALER LEVEL PRO) to read and write this to the car. No, you won't clone your original, and you don't need to, but that tool is what is needed to flash these. The tool has a socket you set these into for that task.
