America Unearthed Season 1

Hmmmmm... Tone it down a bit
The Ancient Aliens series is much more substantive and better done.I learn about some artifacts and places I hadn't heard of before, which I think is fun. As a descendant of those Vikings, I of course don't believe that Columbus was the first non-native to come here (duh). But I think this gets me thinking about who all might have escaped here. Wolter doesn't lie about stuff, I don't think. It strikes me as possible that he is paid to be a debunker. Anything that could seriously undermine the existing world order comes up negative... which I guess I sort of feel is a good thing. Anarchy is not a good thing. His "I'm going to get to the bottom of this" rings false to me, especially when he usually doesn't. I'd prefer it a little more understated and humble, especially since there are often tiny shreds of evidence which ultimately come up as nothing. All the music sounds like he's going into a massive battle, which wears me out a bit.He goes to a park some miles outside the Denver airport, digs a 2 foot hole in the ground and concludes that there could in principle be a massive underground tunnel system there. (?) And some dowsers smell 50 ounces of gold, which never turns up, but there's a weak spot in next to some well in the woods on some guy's property, which they think might house (yes) the Ark of the Covenant... (?) And amazingly enough, they don't find it. The bravado is so overstated and the results so unexciting, that I think it's on purpose. And would somebody please research the burial site in Salisbury, MA?

Most current information on TV regarding the death of Meriwether Lewis!
As with the earlier Brad Meltzer show on the subject of Meriwether Lewis' passing, I rewatched this program for a project I'm working on. Being a more recent program there is newer information on the ever changing front supporting the case for Lewis having been murdered versus having committed suicide. Another well done program. Interesting watching Scott Wolter going from one subject that didn't pan out to another that begged even more questions.

Love the mysteries in US history.
Interesting episode on the mystery behind the death of Meriwether Lewis. It shows how history is always changing, especially with new scientific technology, such as, DNA testing. The DNA evidence is this case is compelling. My students loved the mystery behind the history... They get to think like a crime scene investigator instead of students of U.S. history. This episode triggered their desire to dig deeper into the primary sources and make conclusions for themselves about what really happened to Meriwether Lewis. In the end, you are still left with more questions, which is exactly what I wanted, so they continue their quest to find out for themselves the truth... :)

Episode 4
When I initially found this show I was very excited, finally someone with credentials that is pursuing alternative history. What a real let down. The topics are great, but the show needs some tweeking. First, find a new host, aside from his trying so hard to throw in scientific language and observation, he looks amateur. Second, anyone watching the show probably has a good understanding of geology and other sciences, we do not need all the dramatic music and spiffy techy overlays, it really cheapens it. As far as this episode, did anyone else catch at the end where the host just flip flops and sides with the MN archeologist on the bones not being from a giant? Talk about throwing Roger under the bus! Even if the bones where laid out next to one another that would not bring a 5 ft skeleton to almost 9 feet, in addition, Roger kept stating how big in circumference they were, this would not be for a small skeleton! Giants or not, this show, no matter how interesting the episode themes are, loses steam in the end as it takes a really awesome concept and cheapens it and adds a host who at best is not very scientific.

Play the third disc first. Two defects so far
I am not reviewing the content. My original order and replacement order failed to play the third disc. I would recommend you play the third disc first. Don't know if I will order again Three defects.. Amazon is burning their copies from a defective master. Don't buy recent copies until they correct it. Living in the Newport area I wanted to see that episode on the supposed Templar structure. Couldn't watch it due to defects. Has anyone had the same problem on disc 3?

One of my favorite shows!
I will be buying more seasons of America Unearthed. I bought the first season because I was interested in the Meriwether Lewis episode. This series has intrigued me since it first came out and I love Scott Wolter, the show's host. Awesome series!

Investigation and Information for minds who want the Truth
As usual Scott Wolter brings us information with science based basis for consideration. Just how much "real" information do we have on what has happened in our country? Don't we deserve more information? I love this man's investigations and think we should all be watching. This kind of ongoing investigation, followups and research will lead to much rewriting of our textbooks. It's about time!
